  • Four blades: 7" and 9" flex plus 9" and 12" stiff
  • Two batteries included, each with a charge indicator
  • Buyers rate it 4.7 out of 5 across more than 6,000 ratings

Cons

  • Expensive

Who is the Bubba Li-Ion Electric for?

Buy it if: Anglers who regularly clean many fish at once, guides, and saltwater anglers who want one tool for small and large fish.

Skip it if: Anyone cleaning a few fish a week. A good manual knife is cheaper, lighter and gives more control on delicate fillets.

  • Crappie limits
  • Salmon
  • Snapper
  • Mahi

Our review

If you clean a lot of fish at once (a cooler of crappie, a limit of walleye, or a big offshore haul), an electric knife saves real time and wrist strain. BUBBA's cordless model is the one we would buy first, because it removes the cord and still covers every fish size.

The kit includes four reciprocating blades: 7-inch and 9-inch E-Flex blades for small and medium fish, and 9-inch and 12-inch E-Stiff blades for heavier fish. They're high-carbon stainless with a titanium-nitride coating, and they come out for cleaning.

The handle has the same non-slip grip as BUBBA's manual knives, plus a trigger guard and a safety lock. BUBBA lists the handle at 8.5 inches and the knife at 1.11 lb, so it feels much bigger than a manual knife. The kit comes with two batteries, each with a charge indicator, a charger and a molded EVA case.

BUBBA claims the longest runtime of any electric fillet knife but doesn't publish a figure, so we won't guess one. On Amazon, buyers most often praise the build quality, the battery life and how easy it is to use. Opinions are mixed on blade sharpness and on whether it's worth the price.

Check who's selling it. When we checked, the Amazon listing was sold by third-party sellers, and some buyers say BUBBA initially pushed back on warranty claims for knives bought from non-authorized web resellers.
